THE CHRONICLE OF BIWI

HELLO !
Hello,

The idea of this column came when I shared many of my wonders with my friends!
So now is the time for me to enlarge this circle of friends to share pieces of them, some coloured threads, paintings “deposited on the palette” …
Just let yourself be amazed; awake this child in you, watching with such profound joy the train passing before his eyes, waving to say hello.

Imagine the most simple thing in the world, this thing you always do, without thinking about it or even noticing it: BREATHE !

(Don't forget to breathe)

This word has been pursuing me for a few months! ...
Oh yes, it pursues me!

I think that for a long time I've been part of those people who forget to breathe!
You would probably tell me that You can't forget to breathe!  But my answer is... yes, you can! And you can even not know how to breathe.

I never understood the profound significance of this word, nor what it meant for my life!  To such a point that, one day, in an artists meeting, on every seat, there were closed envelopes.  In each of them was a word, a different word for each one of us!  I opened mine: “breathe”.

Believe it or not, but I cried when I read it ... because it touched the deepest parts of me, those never explored!

pictAbout a year after that, God spoke to me about these lungs, confined in a cage that is too small, much too narrow.  They can't live like this.  Then, once again, this summer, through simple relaxing exercises, I realised how jerky my breathing seemed. It didn't have any amplitude, any strength ... any life.

I have discovered so many things since then, wonders about how lungs work:
If you put the surface of every pulmonary alveolus together, you could cover 150m²!!  … twice the surface of my apartment!

Our lungs are enveloped in a pleura that looks like a deflated balloon folded up on itself so that the lung can freely be attached to the ribs of the thorax. They both (ribs and lungs) are still independent thanks to an empty space between parts of this pleura...

(*1) Doesn’t that shout out about God's glorious nature, and even of how the body of Christ has to work?  Setting forth together in the same movement, in the same direction without fusion, each one where they have to be…

I also discovered other things.  In the Bible, the Breath of God is always associated to life or death. His word starts with this idea of Breath/life :
earth empty with loneliness
dark on the face of the deep
Breath of God (= wind, breath of life, spirit)
moving on the face of the waters (Gen 1-2, version Bayard retranslated!)

pictLord, You are the one who gives us life!  You are the source of our first breath, You are the one who gives us the breathing in (feeding ourselves with your creating Word, source of Life) and the breathing out (sharing with others this grace you have given us) .
Lord God made man from the dust of the earth, breathing into him the breath of life: and man became a living soul. Gen 2-7
God is also the winner against death, who gives life again by his breath: Prophesy to the breath, he said, prophesy son of Adam.  Say to the breath: The Lord Yhwh has said: Come, breathe, from the four winds!  Breathe on these dead bodies, so that they may come to life! (Eze 37-9, version Bayard retranslated!)
But if the breath of God can give life, it also can take it away:

A breath from Eloah and they expire …
A breath from his nose and they go out (Job 4-9, version Bayard retranslated!)

How can the breath of God give life and death at the same time?  Those things seem completely opposed…  It reminds me of one thing I read recently: “You tasted, here, my mercy and my severity.  You have to remember one and the other if you want to stay on the way of life. The true Love of God includes the judgement of God. You have to know my mercy and severity, otherwise you would fall into a lie.”

(*2) You can't dissociate His love and His grace.  Would you like to learn that with me?  How to live, how to let his Breath enter in us? …  When it's easy and when he carries us forward, but also when it's hard and when his judgement is upon our lives? ... This judgement that purges, that takes away every impurity in our lives and our lungs to draw us to His life!
